Hi, with kind permission from Simon Wilkinson, I am pleased to announce Harvest-1.6.1. Harvest is a system to collect information and make them searchable using a user friendly web interface. Harvest can collect information on inter- and intranet using http, ftp, nntp as well as local files like data on harddisk, CDROM and files on file servers. Designed to manage information in wide varity of formats, Harvest's development reflects the increasing importance of HTML without omitting support for other formats. Current list of supported formats in addition to HTML include dvi, ps, fulltext, mail, man pages, news, troff, WordPerfect, C sources and many more. Adding support for new format is easy due to Harvest's modular design. Harvest's default fulltext indexer Glimpse supports boolean and structured queries, approximate matches and regular expressions. Support for Swish is also included in Harvest. While small installation of Harvest profit from modest memory footprint and efficient summarizers, big installations can set up a distributed system to gain scalability. A set of computers can gather and summarize data while a broker collects the data preprocessed by many gatherers to answer queries. This version fixes bugs found in harvest-1.5.20 and supersedes all branches I know, which include: - Harvest-MathNet100 - harvest-1.5.20 - harvest-1.5.20-kj-10 - harvest-modified-by-RL-Stajsic Following packages were updated: - gdbm 1.8.0 - dvi2tty 5.3 - glimpse 4.12.6 Please get it from: ftp://download.sourceforge.net/pub/sourceforge/webharvest/ ftp://ftp.tardis.ed.ac.uk/pub/harvest/ ftp://arco.met.fu-berlin.de/pub/harvest/ For a list of mirror sites, see: http://www.tardis.ed.ac.uk/harvest/download.html Thank you. kj
