I am pleased to announce Harvest-1.9.12.
This ia a development version.

What's new:

        * Added Russian translation of Harvest User's Manual. (Andrei
        Malashevich)

        * Improved PowerPoint summarizer.

        * Improved Zebra integration.


The new Zebra based system should already have almost same functionality like
the old Glimpse based system except following issues that needs to be
addressed before switching to Zebra completely:

- Understand and use Zebra's ranking system. Currently, ranking doesn't seem
  to work as expected.
- Clean up XML object management. The broker transforms SOIF objects to XML
  and store them in a separate directory, but doesn't clean up, when SOIF
  objects are deleted.
- Brush up user interface. The current user interface is usefull for testing
  and has to be beefed up.


Here are some reasons to switch to Zebra:

- Zebra is much faster in most cases when answering queries.
- Zebra has a more predictable response time and doesn't vary from seconds to
  minutes.
- Zebra is much faster when creating indexes and can still answer queries even
  when it updates its indexes.
- Zebra does result paging internally, so you don't have to care about paging
  issues in the cgi script.
- Zebra is under GPL.
